Okra is also known as “lady’s finger” or “Gumbo” is a green flowering plant belongs to the same family as hibiscus and cotton. These dark green pods are the main ingredients of creole stews and gumbos, that’s why it is called as gumbos.

In one study, published in the Journal of Pharmacy & BioAllied Sciences, researchers in India found that diabetic mice fed dried and ground okra peels and seeds experienced a reduction in their blood glucose levels, while others showed a gradual decrease in blood glucose following regular feeding of okra extract for about ten days.

Apart from these studies, many diabetic patients have tried this and seen diminishing level of glucose level in blood.

  • Take 2-4 medium sized Okras,
  • Cut them into two and make a sliced cut in the middle,
  • Put them in a glass of water, and keep them aside over night,
  • Next morning take the okras out, drink the water in empty stomach,
  • By doing this regularly you can easily see the changes in your sugar levels.
